Patagonian Pumas
Dates & Itinerary
17th June 2026 - Arrive Punta Arenas, briefing and overnight in Punta Arenas in a comfortable local hotel
18th June 2026 - After breakfast we will transfer via private vehicles to our lodge near Torres del Paine National Park - a journey that will take approximately 4 hours. We will stop at the nice little town of Puerto Natales for lunch and whilst we are there, there will be the opportunity for some photos of the local water birds. Whilst this day is basically for travel we can stop anytime for photos of birds and landscapes. Each vehicle will have a radio so we can decide things on the way.
19th - 23rd June 2026 - Five days full days photographing pumas at the world's top spot for puma photography. Each day will start before sunrise with a relaxed breakfast at our lodge about 40 minutes from the entrance to the National Park. At this time of the year, because daylight hours are far shorter, we will stay the whole time out in the field, and carry a full packed lunch. We will be using a tracker during this trip to maximise our opportunities, they will be in a different vehicle and will communicate with us via radio. If they find a puma we will go straight to it. While our main goal on this trip is always going to be Pumas, there will be a lot of other incredible photo opportunities, including landscapes and other wildlife. At the end of each day we will return to our lodge outside the Park after sunset, which at this time of the year is quite early, so the days are not too tiring and we will have quality time at the hotel too for sampling the local wine!
24th June 2026 - We will transfer back to Punta Arenas after breakfast, so it's possible to catch a flight on that same evening.
