Tanzania Big Cat Safari
Booking Information
-
The price is £10,295 per person.
Single supplement £800.
-
This is a very complex trip logistically to organise with many camps and factors involved so costs will be higher than a simple Kenya safari. With our level of expertise this is a fair price for this safari and within the bounds of our standard profit margin for all trips.
-
The price includes all land and air costs from your arrival in Kilimanjaro airport. to your departure. It includes full board accommodation at both camps. Alcoholic beverages are included at Lion Rock Camp but at Cheetah Plains only soft drinks are included. Medevac insurance is included and all park and concession fees.
-
The price excludes your return international flights from your home to Kilimanjaro, tips, alcoholic drinks at Cheetah Plains Camp and items of a personal nature.
-
The quoted cost is based on you arriving / departing from Kilimanjaro International Airport In Tanzania. Several major airlines fly there including Ethiopian, Air France and Qatar. Now Ethiopian arrive in the morning in time for the transfer flight to Lion Rock Camp on Miracle Air but the others only arrive the night before. Therefore we have an overnight package for you to stay at a local lodge, including transfers of $260, that will be used for Air France and Qatar arrivals.
We will fly domestically via the excellent Miracle Air, who have set the world alight with their incredible service. They even have their own lounge at Kilimanjaro airport.
All international flights to Kilimanjaro will have to be booked by you. This is now our standard policy as many of you have airline preferences. We will tell you what flights we will be on when the flights become available.
For those tied into the BA One World scheme you will have to fly to Nairobi JKIA, stay overnight at the airport, transfer the next morning back to JKIA airport, board a flight to Kilimanjaro and then connect with the afternoon flight to camp. On the return we will drop you at Kilimanjaro in time for your connection flight to JKIA. We will get Sunworld to arrange your Kenya arrivals package including transfer and overnight stay. You can easily book the JKIA - Kilimanjaro flight as part of your international flight booking, we just checked it and it’s all good. This will obviously be a cost and we will let you know when the tour is booked and when flights become available.
It’s up to you to decide the best price and the best route for you, we will help you no matter what.
-
Travel insurance is a necessity and you must take out full and comprehensive travel insurance for this trip to cover all eventualities. Please do not scrimp on this, get the best you can get just in case.
-
We now use a local ground agent in Tanzania that owns one of the camps too. They are approved with our TTA insurers and are very reputable.
-
A deposit is required to secure your place of £2000 per person. The balance will be split into two equal parts, due 150 days and 60 days before departure. Your payments will be handled by our TTA bonding system, you will be sent a link where you can easily pay by bank transfer or standard credit card. A balance confirmation and invoice will provided for insurance purposes.
-
Our cancellation policies are strict and come from experience. We operate a non refundable policy to protect the other clients on the tour. This applies to both deposit and balance. Therefore it is a requirement of booking that you take out comprehensive travel insurance to cover all eventualities. By booking this safari you agree to these conditions and no discussion will be entered into.
If we postpone then your payment will be held over for a replacement safari at a later date or you will of course be entitled to a full refund. If you have to cancel then we will provide you will all the necessary documents for an insurance claim. In some instances it may be possible to fill your place at short notice, at which point you will receive a partial refund of monies paid, but this very much depends on the time of the cancellation and not guarantees can be made.

Other Tours
In fairness we wanted to tell you that we are planning a second tour to Lion Rock Camp in January 2028. This one will combine with Kenya’s Amboseli National Park and the new Soroi Amboseli lodge. This will spend the same time at Lion Rock Camp and will have a road transfer across the border crossing between the two countries, which is literally 4 hours door to door and is very easy. The point of going in January is that the grass at Lion Rock Camp will be longer and the lions will be forced onto the kopje’s more. There is also the chance of more atmospheric stormy skies. So that’s the advantages, the downsides are slightly more Tsetse flies and it’s hotter in Lion Rock Camp. In Amboseli it’s a great time as it’s dry and you might see Mount Kilimanjaro too. Amboseli is great for elephants and birds. We are just including this for completeness so you know, it is likely to be slightly more expensive owing to costs associated with Amboseli and the way we operate there - likely this tour will be announced in a few weeks.
