Our Kenya Lodges
Where you stay on safari matters just as much as what you see — and in Kenya, we’ve hand-picked a collection of exceptional lodges and camps that elevate your experience at every level. From the moment you arrive, you’ll enjoy warm, friendly service, stylish and comfortable accommodation, and the kind of attention to detail that makes a real difference. Expect incredible food, often enjoyed under the stars or during unforgettable bush breakfasts surrounded by the sights and sounds of the wild.
Our partners in Kenya are Sunworld Safaris, who own and operate the Soroi Collection of Lodges. Each property we use has been chosen not just for comfort, but for character and ethics. These are eco-friendly, low-impact camps and lodges that blend beautifully into their surroundings and contribute meaningfully to local community projects and conservation efforts. You’ll feel part of something bigger — a safari that gives back.
We have been working with Sunworld Safaris for many years, this ensure seamless logistics, expert gold standard guiding, and the kind of on-the-ground knowledge that only comes from decades of experience. All camps are safe, secure, and professionally run, offering you the chance to truly relax and immerse yourself in the magic of Kenya without compromise.
Whether you're looking for an intimate tented camp or a lodge with sweeping views over the plains, every location we use has been personally selected to provide you with a quality, unforgettable experience — the kind that stays with you long after the dust settles.
Soroi Samburu Larsens Camp
With an illustrious legacy rooted in exploration and natural wonder, Soroi Larsens Camp presents an exciting new chapter in luxury safari experiences in Samburu. The camp carries the name of famed explorer Eric Larsen. It honors his spirit by offering a uniquely adventurous yet luxurious escape in the very spot Larsen first pitched his camp. Soroi have meticulously crafted every detail of the camp, reimagining Larsen’s legacy into a modern boutique retreat that harmoniously intertwines with the breathtaking surroundings of the Ewaso Nyiro River and the expansive Samburu Game Reserve.
Based on a sustainability and community support foundation, Soroi Larsens Camp goes beyond the typical safari lodge. The setup of 12 luxury tents, 2 family units, and 2 deluxe luxury tented suites offers unprecedented comfort and exclusivity, wrapped in an authentic African ambiance. From private terraces offering exclusive river frontage to their deluxe suites’ outdoor showers and star beds, they have curated an unforgettable Samburu safari experience at Soroi Larsens Camp.
Our View - We love staying at Larsens, it is very much our home camp. We are welcomed as friends, are served world class food (with excellent veggie options) and have the chance to learn all about Samburu culture. Photographically it is ideally placed for our game driving and has a low level photographic hide by a waterhole which all our clients have exclusive access to (see below for details). There is a wonderful spa there which our clients love, a swimming pool and a indoor / outdoor dining. River watching is always a fun past time and sometimes you see elephants crossing right in front of the camp.
Soroi Samburu Lodge
Discover the epitome of wilderness adventure paired with comfort at the Soroi Samburu Lodge. Opened in July 2025, this extraordinary lodge is nestled in the heart of the rugged landscapes of Samburu, offering a blend of authentic safari experiences and modern conveniences. The lodge caters to diverse preferences with a total of 50 Rooms (comprised of standard rooms, superior rooms, and family units), making it an ideal choice for corporate getaways, conferences, and incentive trips.
Our View - This is the newest Soroi property and we were so impressed with it. Sitting right on the banks of the river, it offers exceptional quality for a cheaper price than the nore exclusive Larsens Camp. We use this lodge when we are running longer multi centre safaris in Kenya. There is an onsite spa and a new conference centre is being built too, which will used by us in the future. Samburu Lodge also has a permanent exhibition of Andy’s work. Photographically it is ideally placed for our game driving and has a low level photographic hide by a waterhole which all our clients have exclusive access to (see below for details).
Samburu Photographic Hides
The Soroi lodges at Samburu share an exclusive photographic low level hide around a waterhole. The hide has non reflective glass but the windows can be opened with care, experience and supervision. Inside the hide are bunk beds, an overnight alarm system and power outlets, the lights at night provide good light for photography. The hide is accessed by a secure underground tunnel from Larsens Camp and clients are only permitted to use the hide with one of the photographic guides and may not exit without a guard. Common visitors to the hide include elephants, plains game and at night the leopard comes several times per week and occasionally in the daytime. Like all hides there are peak times for activity, this hide is best in the dry season when the river is low (September-November) but wildlife can turn up at anytime. All our clients have exclusive access to the hide for the duration of our stay.
Soroi Cheetah Tented Camp
Accommodation at Soroi Cheetah Tented Camp is a haven for nature enthusiasts seeking an authentic safari experience in the heart of Kenya’s thriving wilderness. Nestled beneath Soroi Lions Bluff, the camp offers a unique perspective of the breathtaking Lumo Conservancy landscape bordering Tsavo West. Step onto your tent’s private verandah to breathe in the crisp African air and take in the mesmerizing views stretching across the conservancy. The shared mess area, strategically positioned to capture unforgettable panoramic sunsets, serves as a communal hub for dining, relaxation, or simply immersing yourself in the spectacular surroundings. Soroi Cheetah Tented Camp is unfenced and overlooks the stunning wildlife-rich conservancy below.
Our View - We love Cheetah Tented Camp as it has a very friendly laid back atmosphere with lovely tents that command exceptional views of the plains below. The food is excellent, good portions and healthy. Cheetah, and it’s upmarket neighbour Lions Bluff, share a fantastic low level photographic hide at a waterhole that all of our clients have exclusive access to (see details below). Lumo Photographic Hides
The Soroi lodges at Lumo (Cheetah and Lions Bluff) share an exclusive photographic low level hide around a waterhole. The hide has non reflective glass but the windows can be opened with care, experience and supervision. Inside the hide are bunk beds, an overnight alarm system and power outlets, the lights at night provide good light for photography. The hide is accessed by a secure underground tunnel and clients are only permitted to use the hide with one of the photographic guides present and may not exit at any time without a vehicle. From the hide you can get superb photos of zebras close up and during the heat of the day many different species of birds and mammals visit. Overnight the prize is the Serval and the Hyena which visit regularly and the lions put in an appearance sometimes too as do elephants. Like all hides there are peak times for activity, this hide is best in the dry season when the river is low (September-November) but wildlife can turn up at anytime. We use the hide after the morning game drive and sometimes afternoon too, we always check the visit logs for the week before and make a decision then. All of our clients have exclusive access to the hides during our stay.
Soroi Lodges about to open…
The Soroi Collection are about to open three new lodges and they will be incorporated into our safari program as they come online. Here are a few details….
Soroi Amboseli - Located in the wilds of the home of the supertusker Amboseli National Park, this exclusive camp will give us close access to the dry lake bed and swamp habitats. It’s in a superb location and will really benefit our wildlife photography and also give us the privacy and safari standard that only Soroi can provide. The camp will be available for our October 2026 safaris and beyond.
Soroi Nairobi National Park - Located inside Nairobi National Park, this new camp will be perfect to get our safaris off to a relaxing start. Instead of staying at an airport hotel, you will stay your first night in this superb camp, waking up for a game drive and a bush breakfast. It will allow you time to unwind and get into the pace of Africa before we start our full safari. The camp will be available for our January 2027 safaris and beyond.
Soroi Blue - At the end of every safari why not head down to spectacular Diani Beach on the Kenya coast for a couple of days of post safari chill? We just did this for our family holiday and it was great, the property is currently being renovated to Soroi standards but it has a great pool, direct access to the sandy beach for snorkelling and awesome fresh seafood. This part of the coast is a very safe and tourist friendly area. The lodge is accessed by a 2 hour train journey from Voi (Lumo lodges) on the tourist express train or a 1 hour flight from from Nairobi on Jambo Jet. This is available as an add-on for any safari package from March 2026 and here are a few pictures to show you why it’s so special….
Other camps we use….
For most of our Kenya safaris we use the Soroi Collection of camps but we also use other camps when the need arises. These are camps that we have stayed at many times and are trusted by us to look after our clients.
Laikipia Wilderness Camp
Laikipia has long been established as the place to go if you want to have a chance of photographing the elusive leopard (including a black leopard). There are two camps that we use in the conservancy, Main Camp and the River Camp. Both have permanent tents / cottages that are rustic and comfortable. They have basic furniture, mosquito nets, private bathrooms and shower (under the stars sometimes) with 24 hour hot water and are nice places to be. A perfectly good place for us and with a real "out of africa" charm. Food is a simple buffet with a main course, sides and a desert. Special diets can be catered for. A brunch will be taken at a special location in the bush on some mornings, at the camp there is a lovely open boma where we can eat and relax during the day. The camp is very eco focussed, it is dependant on solar power and uses all sustainable tourism principles.
Ol Pejeta Serena Sweetwaters
At the Ol Pejeta conservancy we stay at the Serena Sweetwaters camp. The rooms are a modern twist on tents, with sliding glass doors and a everything self contained. The camp is centred around a waterhole where rhinos and all kinds of plains game comes to drink during the day and night. The restaurant is buffet style with live cooking stations. It’s a comfortable and decent camp and our base for Ol Pejeta.
